ESRI Logo

ESRI is at the forefront of GIS (Geographic Information System) development and technology. Be it modeling, analysis or development ESRI produces the best COTS (Commercial off-the-shelf) software for all GIS needs and having to keep up with the latest from this world leader is no simple task. With the evolution of Web 2.0 and syndication of site content via protocols such as RSS, RDF and atom it has never been so easy to stay updated on current developments.

By publishing several blogs pertaining to its products, developer tools, support, events and other relevant offerings ESRI makes it easy to receive up to date information in our news aggregators by subscribing to its feeds.

Here’s the list of blogs and podcasts with their subscription feeds http://www.esri.com/blogs/index.html

Just noticed today, ESRI has made available proceedings of the 2009 Developer Summit at http://proceedings.esri.com/library/…

The proceedings include code demonstrations and presentations (slides and video) by the EDN team and ESRI users for

  • Presummit Seminar
  • Technical sessions
  • Developer Keynote session
  • User Presentations
  • Special Interest Group Meeting and
  • Demo Theater Presentations

Among the GIS blog world, this is the fourth posting today on ESRI’s official YouTube channel.

ESRI operates a channel on YouTube under then name esritv which is a useful resource with videos on product demos, conference presentations, howto’s, process work flows and other interesting stuff.

It so happens that many of the videos uploaded on YouTube can also be found on Viddler, probably uploaded by the same professionals. Just in case you happen to have problems accessing YouTube, don’t’ panic and remember that there’s Viddler.

This is no new news (definitely not for users of ESRI products), but for all those who may have missed the buzz around the latest version of ArcGIS Explorer which is soon to be released during the ESRI Developer Summit ’09, here’s a quick preview of the upcoming 900 version.

For those of you who are not aware, ESRI publishes video tutorials on its free subscription channel at Viddler.com on its wide range of products.

Here’s one interesting video on how one can enhance the search and find capabilities of ArcGIS Explorer by adding a Geonames Search task that is available from the resource center.

The Explorer team did a good work by not just running through the process of finding places using this task, but rather had a story with an objective to find a place in Glacier National Park, Montana.
